Wow. WOW! I just watched Weekend, and I am impressed. What a solid indie film? Typically movies about gay romance are campy or self-indulgent, but this movie was anything but. Pitch perfect really.

Its interesting because in the movie the character Glen talks about how straight people don’t care about gay sex, and I feel like thats a reason a lot of straight people will not want to see this movie, but those people are wrong. Alot of the topics adressed by this movie are universal to all people. Roger Ebert best explains it in his review:

Some aspects involve homosexuality, but this isn’t a “gay film.” Most people can identify with Russell and Glen. That’s because some of us are more open and some of us are more guarded. Some of us trust easily, and others more slowly. Some of us have sexual feelings that are not open for discussion. Some of us pretend to be who we think we “ought” to be, and do it so well that even close friends don’t know who we really are.

It’s a really good movie. I recommend it. It’s on Netflix Watch Instantly.

Such a good movie, kind of a slow start, i though the first 10 minutes were a bit boring but pay attention to the characters, and I really liked it, the ending was sad of course.
